Jaipur-- single day trips
Rajasthan is a touristy place-- and the capital city having it's own set of wonderful places of royal grandeur has also a few places within a driving distance of one to one and half hour-- which you can easily visit and come back home for lunch on the same day.
1. Abhaneri step well with Harsh Mata Temple
It is situated about 90 Km from Jaipur on Jaipur Agra Highway -- takes about one and half hour drive in the quaint village hamlet of Abhineri-- one of the finest marvel of ancient man made architecture -a step well constructed with such geometric precision and architectural brilliance that it makes you wonder and applaud the architectural genius and technical expertise with minimal tools in those ancient era.
Standing next to the step well on a small hillock is -- Harsh mata Temple-- made of carved stones and murals depicticting various hindu Gods and Goddeses and the temple itself has a wonderful statue of HanumanJi and Shiva.
2. Bhangarh Fort
On the way back from Abhaneri step well to Jaipur about 60 km on the Jaipur Agra Highway-- at Dausa you take a turn towards Fort of Bhangarh-- steeped in folklore of mysticism and paranormal sightings and happenings --where entry is banned once the sun sets down, Situated in the lap of Aravallis--its premises are dotted with multiple temples and it requires a little effort to climb up to the top of the fort -- but once you reach the top of the fort --the view is surreal
3. Sambhar Lake
About 80 km towards Ajmer and Kishangarh lies the Sambhar Lake -one of the largest salt water flats in Asia-- Large Salt panning Fields dot the entire lake-- the crystals looking like flakes of snow with a narrow gauze line and wooden railway trolleys bisecting the salt lakes-- dotted with flocks of migratory birds --depending upon the season
